Ali Zafar a famous Pakistani pop artist has always been criticized of being a copier of legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar (Late). But is it only Kishore Kumar, which is the source of inspiration behind Ali Zafar’s success? The answer is NO! Channo, the famous song of Ali Zafar is the copy of a song Composed and Sung by legendary Indian Music Director, R D Burman (Late). Many years ago, the great R.D. Burman and Lyricist Gulzar created a song — Dhanno ki aankhon mein, raat ka surma aur chand ka chumma. The song was a runaway hit as a Flanger Effect was used for the first time with the Guitar attached to a special device, but believe it or not, the Dhanno in question was no Hindi film heroine. It was a steam engine, a good old WP (a class of steam locomotives), racing down the tracks, belching smoke. The song has become a veritable anthem for Indian loco lovers. This song was picturized in Indian Film Kitaab, which was released in 1977.
So Ali Zafar's hit song "Channo Ki Aankh Mein..." is in fact an alteration of R D Burman's original song" Dhanno Ki Aankhon Mein Chaand Ka Surma." Ali Zafar’s claim that he spent two years for this song seems to be a lie. Listen to R D Burman's song and you can easily decide that Ali's song is an act of plagiarization. Although, the words have been altered quite a bit, the music resembles a lot and this makes the listener curious that the song has not been produced originally.
