Corporal Punishment in the name of Discipline
Hello Everyone, Corporal Punishment in the name of Discipline Corporal Punishment in one form or the other has been a part of our society and around schools for centuries and no doubt it is permitted today in almost many countries/states. The question is how do u see these various ways of punishment as right or wrong...should they be legal or banned...how would u deal with a child who is doing an unaccepted act...majority of us will surely not go for this kind of punishment..as it is inhuman but we do see/listen them around...do u think these punishments should take place to make the child know that whenever he does any unaccepted act he will get spanking, or one day locked without food...etc.. I think Discipline shouldnot leave lasting scars that makes the child violent and emotional in the long run which in return makes his/her life miserable with all the relations in the society and towards ones country...do u experience any incident of urs or around..u may share it ... Thanks 4 reading.. |

What you talking about Rahen. You did not list any ways of punishments on which others can debate upon. Neither did you suggest anything from your own thinkings and understandings. Plus you are telling us to share personal experience but you did not even do that. Very bad post by you I must say. But let me respond to all of these.

First off read the article my good friend wrote in his blog based on facts and statistics of corporal punishment; from the link below.
[Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] Now this thing is huge issue. But you know what us desis, talking about Pakistanis and Indians, are used to this punichement and abuse. Our parents and teachers are so dumb that they beleive this is the only way to keep one moral, clean, and a way for them to learn from their mistakes, and so on. Now From my personal experience, man I get a beating that do leave scars almost twice a week. I am forced to behave certain ways and so on. I think this is the story of every desi. We love our parents to death and we have been taught to respect them for life, again we have gotten used to it. In self-sustained parts of India it is slightly changing but in Pakistan It is no where close. |

Now If you or anyone extend this discussion I will surely explain more upon this issue.

i did suggest ...the last three lines in my above post come in that. i dont hve any personal experience...as my dad waz v.strict on this. ok. -------- yes and the beating is not only based on discipline but also with the stress taking its poll parents and teachers take out their frustration and anger on the kids as they cant give the same back..in other words they are weak... these beatings does bring some impact on the person in the long run for sure such as harming there self-respect, dignity, values etc...there are many cases where children getting highest rate of punishment usually end up criminals or against the society, children who were dropout from school are found working as a labourer. and the worst part is that this is a lawful act which empowers parents/ teachers/ guardians to use it as a means to ensure discipline and correct the behavior...but parents/teachers/guardians use it as a just way to train the child instead of positive communication and assigning them with some responsibilities. |

I got to do homework, will get back on this topic. But I would say that they become like their parents. Whatever they see and what ever has been displayed in front of their eyes, they are very much likely to do the same. Because that is the only right way they have aknowledged.

yah...cause after getting constant beats and hurts..one is likely to hve too much of frustration..and to take that off u want to hurt someone else the weaker ones.

NO WAY! I have first hand experience and I can tell you that it does no good to anyone. Am I what I am, or are they what they're because of the stick? think again!
Those so-called teachers & parents practising it should be put behind bars. |

No brother i think its not abt stick...but willingness to use it against children for the cause of discipline is the problem...why would one want to teach a kid with harming him/her.
A child accidently broke father's perfume bottle...one slap waz enough to kill him...and that child lives no more. |

Some do it to train them, others do it to set the record straight. Why they do it is not worth a discussion - how to stop them from doing it certainly is. Aside from the physical disabilities, they make one mentally disable, prone to attack, and suicidial. As far as I think, it's a chain of reaction (my father beat me - I beat my son - my son beats his son) that won't go away until they realize that it has done no good to anyone. By using these methods, we're putting the future of our children at risk. Trust me, we are only making them slaves by applying torture.

no doubt on that...children get harmed physically and mentally...
