Some keyboard shortcuts(Windows XP)
Start key + Break opens the Control Panel System applet. Start key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons Start key + D shows the Desktop Start key + L shows the Welcome screen, or locks the machine if Fast User Switching is disabled. __________________ You can change the icon of your folder in windows XP. Do the following for that: #Right click on the target folder. #Select 'properties' #Select the tab named 'customize' #Click on the button called "Change Icon" #Click on browse #Select the icon you had created #Click open #Click OK #Click OK And the icon of the folder will change immediately. __________________ Stop a progrm from running at startup Click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG. Go to the Startup tab, and uncheck the item there. __________________ Win XP Shutdown Sometimes WIN XP dows not shutdown properly and this is a very common problem. Here is the solution: # Goto Control Panel, then goto Power Options. # Click on the APM Tab, then check the "Enable Advanced Power management support." # Shut down your PC. Re: Computer Tips & Tricks ----Largest Collection !
click start > run > msconfig press enter.
it will provide you configuration settings for your xp. you can customize the applications and services to start for you and stop unwanted services to start to ease your system. it will help you speed up your slowed down machine without reinstalling operating system. if you are using the pirated windows xp just turn off automatic updates by selecting to ask you first and then download the updates for you. it will give you opertunity to maintain your speedy operating system. M*cro$oft released xp service pack 2 to get hold of pirated cds. your newly installed operating system works great without updating it. when you select automatic update, it uploads info about pirated os and then your system will download junk updates to mess your system by slowing it down to dead. just use an anti virus for your online safety. disable automatic updates disable windows firewall for you internet connection try using firefox, opera browser instead of internet explorer to prevent your system __________________ |

Some shortcut keys frm me
winkey + R gives u runbox at startmenu winkey + F gives u findmenu at start menu winkey + E gives u explorer winkey + pause/break shows u system properties winkey + M all opened windows minimized winkey + shift + m will open all minimized Icons on the desktop will slow down the booting speed of windows to avoid this, we have to increase cache memory of the icons. iconcache.db is the file managing the icon cache.. follow this steps to do that start =>run in that type regedit in regedit window HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE =>SOFTWARE=>M*cro$oft=>WINDOWS=>CURRENT VERSION=>EXPLORER=>MAX CACHED ICONS in that 500 will be the existing value to edit that double click that, now u can see edit string on value section type 2000 instead of 500. close regedit and now reboot windows now u can see the difference.. for people who dont find max chached icons on regedit post a request here then i will give u details to create it |

How to Disable Automatic Restart So that we Can Read Blue Screen Messages
How to Disable Automatic Restart So that we Can Read Blue Screen Messages
Sometimes an error occurs on your machine and you are immediately hit by a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). The only problem is the screen flashes by so quickly you rarely get to see what may have caused the error in the first place. To the layman the information on the screen may as well be in a foreign language but, in a number of cases, to a technician the all important 'gobbledegook' can mean the difference between locating your problem or complete disaster. By disabling the automatically restart on system failure feature, you are able to read what messages appear on the blue screen and can, if necessary, pass the information on to your technical support person. 1/ Click Start Button 2/ On the Start Menu click Control Panel 3/ When the Control Panel window opens click on the System icon 4/ The system properties window opens 5/ Click the Advanced tab 6/ In the Advanced tab window locate the Start and Recovery section and press the Settings button 7/When the settings window opens look for the System failure section 8/ Remove the check mark from the Automatically Restart option 9/ Click OK to Exit |
