    Dubai Metro Train Project- run test

    Government plans national firm to boost rail transport


    No - not Gordon Brown - The United Arab Emirates Government will soon create a national railway company to help popularise the concept of rail transport across the country.

    The move will create a body to oversee railway projects and help rail transport become an alternative mode of transport for moving both passengers and freight amidst the growing road traffic congestions in UAE.
    The National Transport Authority (NTA) in Abu Dhabi has already approved the formation of the company and a ministerial decree on it is likely soon. "We are expecting a decree any minute to create a national railway company," Abdulla Salem Al Katheeri, Director of Land Transport Department at the NTA told Emirates Business on the sidelines of the MEED rail projects 2008 conference in Dubai. "The firm will help drive the concept of railway transport to all emirates."
    The new national company will draft laws and policies to create a comprehensive strategy for railway transport in UAE. It will also set conditions for ensuring quality in railway lines across the country.
    The idea to create a national company stems from the ongoing drive to create a UAE national railway line that will link all the emirates. The line, both for passenger and freight transport, will also be linked to the planned 1,200km GCC railway network. "The UAE realises the importance of integrated transport to keep in pace with the growth in the economy and population. Railway transport is very essential in freeing up traffic by reducing congestion as well as accidents," said Al Katheeri.
    Feasibility studies for the 800km UAE railway line, conducted by a consortium of German railway companies, had been completed but these had to be changed due to new major developments taking place. The announcements for construction tenders are expected once the railway company is established.
    "Once the company is created, it will help us to speed up the process of creating a UAE national railway line. Already alignments in the Abu Dhabi have been completed," Al Katheeri said.
    Both the UAE and GCC railway lines are expected to bolster the region's position as a fast growing global logistics hub by providing connectivity between the various GCC ports that have seen a 20 per cent annual increase in container handling.
    While no official cost for the railway project has been announced, experts had earlier estimated the network will cost about Dh10bn. Abdul Redha Al Hassan, Director of Planning at RTA's Rail Agency, said that Dubai Metro is likely to be integrated with the national railway line. But because of changes resulting from major developments, a consultant would be appointed to study the possibility of aligning the two transport systems.

    RTA: 60% of Dubai Metro work finished


    Dubai: Around 60 per cent of the Dh15.5 billion Dubai Metro project has been completed, said a senior official.
    "The red line of the Dubai Metro will be operational from September 9, 2009," Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said while briefing a delegation from Saudi Arabia about the RTA's projects.
    The delegation led by Dr Osama Fadil Al Bar, Governor of Makkah, visited the RTA headquarters yesterday. Al Tayer said the Dubai Metro is the biggest driverless metro project worldwide as a single unit.
    Al Tayer also briefed the delegation about the RTA's strategic Plan-2015 which focuses on three key aspects.
    The first one is aimed at reducing traffic congestion on roads. The second part of the strategic plan is to improve traffic safety levels in Dubai. The third aspect, he said, is to encourage community members to use mass transport modes.

    Metro Dubai arrived in United Arab Emirates.




    The first trains for the Dubai Metro, which have a water and air design theme, arrived at Jebel Ali Port on March 6. It has wireless online link..the fare will be within the reach of people 10 Aed.

    The first Dubai Metro train will reach here in March, according to Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).
    Each train, in the Red and Green lines, consists of five carriages capable of accommodating about 643 commuters. The coaches are classified into two classes — Golden Class and Silver Class. The Golden Class is situated at the front of the train, comprising 18 deluxe seats, with luxurious interior fittings, more spacious leather seats and panoramic view across the front window of the train. The coach, which includes a section dedicated to women and children, is wide enough to accommodate prams and luggage to ensure safety and convenience for women and children. The Silver Class comprises four coaches with 104 seats each. The multiple grab handles provide safe hold for standing passengers.

    The Dubai Metro (In Arabic: مترو دبي) is a driverless, fully automated metro network under construction in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai. The network will have two third rail collection system powered lines that will both run underground in the city center and on elevated viaducts elsewhere on double tracks. The first phase of the network is being built by Dubai Rapid Link (DURL) Consortium which comprises Japanese companies including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Obayashi Corporation, Kajima Corporation and the Turkish company Yapi Merkezi. The Dubai Metro will be operated by the Dubai Road and Transport Authority. The Dubai Metro system will be the longest fully automated rail system in the world. Completion of the first section of the system is projected for 2009.
    Dubai Metro network
    There are four lines which use 99 five-car trains each 75-meters long with seats for 400 passengers:
    • Red Line: 50 kilometres (31 mi) line with 35 stations from Jebel Ali Port, the American University in Dubai, through the city centre, and to the Airport Free Zone.
    • Green Line: 20 kilometres (12 mi) line with 22 stations from Festival City, through the city centre, Dubai International Airport Terminals 1 and 3, and to Rashidiya.
    • Blue Line: 47 kilometres (29 mi) line along Emirates Road, exact route currently unknown.
    • Purple Line: 49 kilometres (30 mi) line along Al Khail Road, meant to be an express route between Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport (formerly Dubai World Central International Airport.

    The Red Line of Dubai Metro on Shaikh Zayed Road will start operating on September 9, 2009.

    Dubai: The work on the elevated track of Dubai Metro project has been completed.

    The viaduct has changed the view of the busy Shaikh Zayed Road, which is the business district of Dubai with high-rise towers on both sides of the road.

    The Red Line of Dubai Metro on Shaikh Zayed Road will start operating on September 9, 2009.

    9000 men are working on this project

    Dubai Dubai Metro's first consignment of trains is expected to arrive in Dubai the second week of March, Gulf News has learnt.
    The batch, part of the 42 trains allocated for Dubai Metro's Red Line, is already in the process of shipment, an official said. He denied the rumours via an e-mail with pictures saying that the trains had reached Dubai.
    "We expect the first consignment to reach Jebel Ali Port in Dubai in the middle of next month but I can't say the exact date," he said.
    Milestone
    He said that some 42 trains would arrive in Dubai by the third quarter of next year for the operation of Dubai Metro's Red Line which is scheduled to start running from September 9, 2009.

    This video has handsome Sheikh Mohammad and his sons with some other men
    many countries have train...but this is world's largest automated driverless system.
