Back To Nature
The world over, eco-conscious people are turning to nature’s gentle, healing ways and home grown solutions. Vegetable and fruit-based face packs enhance and enrich the skin most naturally.
The new mantra of the holistically inclined generation of total health purveyors reflects the plain truth about being in harmonious sync with nature and her curative touch. An increasing awareness about a veggie lifestyle stretches to the ‘look naturally good’ philosophy honed by the growing ‘green is great’ feel. Ancient tests have a treasure-house of domestic and herbal remedies for enhancing your beauty.
Take a look at the natural face pack formulas that you can source from your own kitchen shelves.
• Fruit pulps of papaya and over-ripe banana can do wonders to your skin. Massage your face with them, leaving it on for 10 minutes. This removes dead cells and produces enzymes that make your skin glow.
• For open pores, add tomato pulp which has astringent and anti-tan qualities, to your face pack, or just massage it directly on your skin. For pigmented skin, cucumber juice does wonders by eliminating dark spots and blemishes.
• For pimpled skin, the curd and ground mint mask is ideal. Instead of mint, you can also use hibiscus, marigold or jasmine petals. They work wonders with their cooling and healing properties.
• For those with a dry skin, take two teaspoons of Earth (multani mitti) and one teaspoon of honey and rose water each. Mix together to a paste. Apply the pack and leave it on for 10 minutes. After removing it, gently massage 2-3 drops of vitamin E oil, and leave it on for a while.
• The egg pack is ideal for all skin types. Use the white of the egg for oily skin, the yellow for dry skin and the entire egg for normal skin! Add a few drops of lemon juice for oily skin and a few drops of olive oil for dry skin.
• The milk cream mask for dry skin is another great pack. Milk cream with a few drops of lemon juice is excellent for brightening up dull, sallow and dry complexion, and can be regularly used before a bath.
• Honey promotes healing. It cleans wounds, is a strong antiseptic and can either be used all by itself or mixed with another face pack. So is sandalwood paste or powder mixed with rose water. It is curative for any irritation on the skin and helps heal heat boils in summer.
