Make Your Hair Frizz-Free
Use Anti-Frizz Styling Products
There are a lot of great products on the market today that are designed especially for managing frizzy hair. Once you select a good product you will want to apply a dime sized drop of the product into the palm of your hand, and then work it into your hair, scrunching your curls up. It is important that you don’t use too much anti-frizz serum as this can make your hair look oily or greasy. Once the product is in your hair you can either allow your hair to dry naturally or you can blow dry it using a diffuser. Use Shampoos and Conditioners That are Designed for Curly Hair Curly hair has a unique set of cleaning and conditioning requirements. To meet these requirements you need to use a shampoo and conditioner that are designed for curly hair. These products will usually have ingredients that both protect your hair from split ends and breakage, as well as ingredients that enhance the shape and texture of your curls. Use a Leave In Conditioner If you have excessively frizzy hair then a leave in conditioner is a great option. These conditioners can be applied any time of the day, and they don’t need to be washed out. Leave in conditioners not only help reduce the development of frizzy hair, but they also help to protect your hair from sun damage. Use Coconut Oil If you are looking for a less expensive anti-frizz product then you may want to try pure coconut oil. To use this treatment you will need to start with clean and conditioned hair. Then apply a small amount of the oil to the surface of a fine tooth comb and comb the oil into your hair. Use a Curl Definer In addition to using an anti-frizz serum you may also want to use a curl definer. The curl definer will keep your curls in individual locks. This will help your hair from becoming frizzy. Get the Right Hair Cut If you have thick frizzy hair then you may just need a good hair cut to tame your frizz. Go to a professional hair stylist for advice about what hair cut you can get to reduce the frizziness of your hair. You may only need a small adjustment to your current cut in order to create a big difference in the look and feel of your hair. |

Taking Care of Your Hair
Itching associated with seborrheic dermatitis can weaken and damage hair over a period of time, so seek medical help if your scalp skin is itchy, red or scaly.
Long hair is more easily damaged. People with extensive hair damage should consider a shorter style. Hair growth slows with age and hair becomes thinner in texture. Older people should be careful to ensure that only weaker chemicals are applied to their hair. Take care when choosing grooming tools. Use a comb made from flexible plastic with smooth, rounded and coarse teeth. Use a brush with bristles that are smooth, ball-tipped, coarse and bendable. Also, brush as little as possible and avoid brushing wet hair. Don't use tight rubber bands for ponytails as these cause excessive trauma and breaking of hairs. Likewise, use hair clips loosely. Understand the nature of your hair and adjust the intensity of your grooming to match. For example, curly hair tends to crack more easily than straight hair, so be careful. Ensure your hair is always cut with sharp scissors, as crushing the ends of the hair will encourage split ends. The less that is done to hair in terms of styling, the healthier it will be. It follows then that care should be taken not to over-style with cosmetic products. Hair coloring and bleaching are damaging to hair. If you must color your hair, try to stay within three shades of the natural color to minimize damage. |

Hair Myths
Myth #1: Shampooing Daily Dries the Hair
Some women believe that shampooing every day dries the hair out. This is not true. What could dry the hair out would be the shampoo that is being used, so it is important to choose a shampoo that is suitable for the hair type – either for oily hair, dry hair or normal/combination hair. Oily hair needs to be washed everyday to get the excess oil out. However, dry hair need not be given the same treatment. Washing the hair with lukewarm water and then applying a moisturizing conditioner is enough. If daily washing of dry hair is necessary, it is important to use a mild shampoo that is made specifically for dry hair. Straight hair Myth #2: Trimming Leads to Faster Hair Growth The purpose of trimming is to get the dry and scraggly parts and the split ends out of the hair, therefore making it look healthier and thicker. But trimming regularly does not make the hair grow longer faster; rather it is our genes and our diet that determine the rate of the growth of our hair. Some types of hair just grow slower than others. However, to encourage faster hair growth, a diet rich in protein is recommended. Myth #3: Hair Develops “Product Immunity” With Regular Use Some women regularly change their hair care products and rotate brands because they believe that their hair develops product immunity or product exhaustion after prolonged use – the product stops becoming as effective as it was before. This is obviously a myth. Instead of the so-called product immunity, what is happening is that the product builds up on the hair and needs to be washed off. The solution to this, rather than rotating hair care products, is to occasionally wash the hair with a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the product build up. Myth #4: Brushing Causes Hair Loss Brushing the hair stimulates the hair follicles to produce more oil. It does cause friction against the hair and scalp so it is important to do it gently and to use a brush of good quality. Just yanking away at the hair causes hair breakage and split ends, rather than actual hair loss. As in anything, not everything about hair care should be believed. Sometimes, what seems like good advice is only a hair care myth. Use your best judgment. |

natural method for straightening hair
Did you know that there is a natural method for straightening hair too? Of course, it may not be instant, but then it is infinitely healthier than straightening chemicals and irons that do irreparable damage to hair. Get a fresh coconut and blend it well, till about a glassful of milk can be extracted from the pulp. Add the juice of one lime to this milk, stir well into the glass and refrigerate till it acquires a creamy layer on the top. This cream can be rubbed onto the scalp, and left on, covered with a hot towel, for about an hour. Then rinse it off with a mild shampoo and warm water. Repeat this three times a week and you will notice that your unruly locks are gradually straightening up.

Corrective Methods of Shampooing and Drying
Methods of shampooing:
* Brush your hair before shampooing to get rid of dirt and dead skin from the head. * Wet the hair, to saturate all layers of hair. * Add shampoo in little water and mix both well. * Massage gently on the roots with the fingertips in circular motion covering the entire head. * Work the shampoo into the bulk of hair over the top layers. * Rinse with water until shampoo has been completely washed off. Improper rinsing of taking out the shampoo may cause dandruff and an itchy scalp. Always make sure you don't leave shampoo in the hair. Drying * After shampooing, wrap your hair in a towel and allow it to soak up the moisture. * Soaking with towel is preferred over forceful drying with towel because forceful drying breaks the hair more easily. * Remove the towel after 10-15 minutes. * Remove the tangles slowly, using a comb not a brush. Brushes cause the hair to break. |

Make Your Hair Healthier and Damage Free
Use the Same Shampoo
Most people don’t realize that changing your shampoo can actually cause your hair to go into shock. When your hair is in shock it is brittle, straw-like, and unattractive. To give your hair a chance to stabilize you should find a shampoo that gets your hair clean and then stick with it. Use a Conditioner with Sun block Every Day Using a conditioner with sun block every day has two functions. First, conditioner helps the scales on your hair follicles to lie flat, which improves both the look and feel of your hair. Secondly, the sun block in the conditioner helps to protect your hair from sun damage. If you can’t find a conditioner with sun block, look for a spray-on sun block that is designed for hair. Use Hair Care Products That Are Designed for the Type of Damage That Your Hair Has There are hundreds of hair care products that you can use to treat your damaged hair. However, before you select a product make sure that it is designed to treat the type of damage that your hair has, and make sure that it is a quality product. When you get your products home, make sure that you read the instructions carefully before you apply it to your hair. By following the directions on the product you will be able to improve your results. Trim the Ends of Your Hair Every Two Weeks Even if you are trying to grow your hair out it is important to trim the ends of your hair about every two weeks. You don’t have to trim very much, just about a centimeter if your hair is relatively healthy. However, if you have seriously damaged ends you will need to trim above the damaged area. By trimming your ends you will stop split ends and you will improve the overall look and health of your hair. Use Kitchen Products to Heal Your Hair There are several items in your kitchen that you can use to improve the health and appearance of your hair. For split ends, dry hair, and frizzy hair you can use olive oil and a beaten egg. Start by massaging olive oil into your hair. Then add in a beaten egg. Let this mixture marinade your hair for about 10 minutes and then shampoo and condition your hair. Mayonnaise is another kitchen staple that can be used to condition your hair. To use this home remedy simply massage mayonnaise into your dry hair and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then rinse it out of your hair. Finish up by shampooing and conditioning your hair. |

Shiny Hair for Humid Days
Shine Solution 1: Use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Dry, damaged hair is more likely to both frizz and look dull. A shampoo and conditioner with softening, conditioning ingredients will keep hair healthy and encourage shine.
Shine Solution 2: Prep hair with shine serum. After you shower, while hair is still quite wet, apply a silicone-based shine serum on areas prone to dullness. Apply your regular styling product on top. Shine Solution 3: Dry hair correctly. If your hair is straight, use a natural-bristle brush and a blow dryer on medium heat to dry hair straight. If hair is curly, form curls with your fingers when hair is still wet, then use a diffuser or let hair dry naturally. Once hair is dry, no matter what the texture, keep your hands away from it. Shine Solution 4: Go for an artificial shine. After hair is dry, spritz a shine serum all over locks, concentrating on areas that are looking dull. |

Quick Solution For Oily Hair
If your scalp is naturally oil, you probably have to shampoo your hair daily to keep it from looking greasy or stringy. If, however, you are running short on time or need a quick lift in the middle of the day, grab a box of cornstarch and a large, clean blush brush.
Pour some cornstarch out onto a dish and dip the brush into it. Then, with a comb, part your hair in the center and brush the cornstarch onto your scalp and roots. Make another part 1/4 to ½ inch off-center and repeat. Continue this method down one side of your head, then from the center and down the other side. Go about your business for about 10 minutes while the cornstarch soaks up the excess oils in your hair. Then, take a brush and brush out your hair, ridding it of the cornstarch flakes. |
