I've been in a total of three accidents - 2 major ones and 1 minor one - amazingly, or should I say by Gods' grace, I've never been injured..
The first one, the car ended up getting totaled. A SUV ran a red light and ended up hitting me on the passenger side, causing my car to do a 180 and end up on the other side of the intersection. I later found out that, while my car was turning, the SUV came within inches of going into a building. But worst of all they had 3 year old who wasn't seat belted, and he ended up flying out of the window. :O

My second accident - the car hydro-planed...first it started to swerve from one lane to another, then finally did a 180 landing on a concrete median...facing head- on traffic.. Amazingly I didn't hit any cars that were around me. Had to wait a bloody hour for the cop to show..and he was a complete ass [excuse the language ] But the car practically had to every everything on its left exterior replaced..including the axle and tires. Major expenses..but luckily we knew the guy at the body shop, and didn't have to pay...but insurance sure did go up + car rental while the car was in the shop, almost for a month..

The last one I had, I was at a freaking stop light, not even moving..and well apparently the woman who hit me...didn't see the line of cars that arn't moving with their brake lights on..and smashed right into me..She broke my trunk and back bumper!!! The impact was soo hard that she ended up leaving an impression of her front tag on my bumper...and gave me a huge dent..

I wouldn't say these accidents have caused me to be more attentive..but they have helped in improving my driving skills. ...

But damn some people can't drive at all.. . And yes I'm one of those who will sit there and curse you out...
As for impacting me or anyone in the family...yea the parents were scared for a bit..with my driving..they'd always tell me to be careful..but mostly it has a financial impact.. but did I stop driving or get reluctant..noo..

oh entangle i really enjoyed reading that...
at the time of accident...it gets hard to think...and one has no option than let the time play its role...how is that 3 yr old.kid now.?
i dont like ...when ppl give instant break...it gets ones all attentiveness to madness..
well u will curse me when u see me driving..as i m a beginner.

yes...these experiences teach us a lot...one gets more careful with many cases seen or gone through...which accidents u hve gone through aadi.

i hvenot shukar al hamdALLAH experienced any accident...as i hvenot yet started to drive on road...but i will show ya one massive accident that happened here in uae..in this month...and 250 cars were involved in that accident...the reason waz the fog in the morning...and ppl didnot know how to drive in this weather condition..

in this accident...almost 65 cars were burnt during the accident out of 250 ..in this almost 60-70 cars were involved in this accident.

they happen so quickly..that sometimes you just dont have to time to react - i for one start laughing every time i have gotten into one...and then few seconds later is ooh shiit!! wtf just happened?

^^but accidents like those are scary...and make you rethink getting on the road at times
i've seen my fair share of cars on fire, flipped upside down, mangled into a mess, and crushed into nothing-and just realize how lucky i've been and then how lucky those ppl are that have gotten out...

Well, Me, I've been in two accidents only. One a minor one and one major. First, the minor one. I was standing at a stop sign at around 5:30 in the morning and there was sleet on the road, and a van driver didn't see the line of cars and rammed right into our car. Luckily, he hit the car on the right edge from behind, so we didn't get any injuries and just a small dent. But the other car was badly damaged, its windshield broken and its driver unconsiouss.

The second accident, my friends and I were coming back from a trip to a village. It was after sunset and since there were no lights, it was hard to see without the cars headlights. The driver, a friend of mine, got rather excited and decided to drive only in the fog lights of the car, and missed a 90 degree turn and the car went off the road and landed on the dirt, which was about 3 feet down. The speed was nearly 70 and the stop was very very sudden and shook the car so much that the engine and gear box got out of alignment and the car had to be towed. The car was rental, and the guy we got it from was such an ass that we decided to fix it on our own. The thing was a huge mess, and took nearly a week to complete, while the car dealer was on our backs.

I guess I learned that firstly, never wise to drive in an excited and stupid manner just for thrills, and that most importantly, never to rent a car, atleast not in Pakistan...

entangledesi: v.right..one doesnot get time to act or respond..during this situation..i can imagine that..when a glass drops by infront of me...and i find myself having no movement...i know thats bad...but will soon find ways to recover that...inshaALLAH...every second counts.
