" The son of Adam reaches the old age and two of his habits do not leave him. One is greed and the second is the unending succession of hopes." (Muslim)

Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: I live in the thought of My servant and I am with him as he remembers Me. (The Prophet) further said: By Allaah, Allaah is more pleased wth the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert. When he draws near Me by the span of his hand. I draw near him by the length of a cubit and when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit. I draw near him by the length of a fathom and when he draws near Me walking I draw close to him hurriedly. (Hadeeth No. 6610 - MUSLIM)

Ibn Abbas reported that Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: I had a chance to look into the Paradise and I found that majority of the people was poor and I looked into the Fire and there I found the majority constituted by women. (6597 - Muslim)

Abu Hurayrah stated Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:

The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was pleased in Paradise, on it he left Paradise, on it he was forgiven, on it he died, and on it the final hour will take place. Every creature on the face of the earth, except Adam's descendants, awakens on Friday on the lookout fearing the final hour until the sun rises. And there is an hour on Friday in which Allah will grant anythinga believer asks, if he is in formal prayer (salah) during it.

Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursing those women who pluck their eyebrows and file their teeth for the purpose of beautification and change the creation of Allaah. Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim.

This is one of my favorite ahadith




Commentary: This Hadith highlights the importance of sincerity and good intention. It is, therefore, essential that every noble action should be based on these two virtues; and heart should be free from all such things that destroy noble deeds. Hypocrisy, ostentation, greed for wealth, riches and other wordly things fall in the category of such evils. Since the true condition of heart is known to Allah alone, the true position of one's actions will be known on the Day of Resurrection when one will be requited for them by Alah. In this world, one will be treated according to his apparent condition while his insight will be left to Allah.

Sometimes Allaah tests His slaves with calamities in order to raise them in status and to expiate for their sins, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No misfortune or disease befalls a Muslim, no worry or grief or harm or distress – not even a thorn that pricks him – but Allaah will expiate for some of his sins because of that.” (Agreed upon. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5641)
