1. Introduction to Flash
The Stage – This is where everything in the frame is shown – the content of the frame. This is where everything happens
Tools Bar – This is where all the basic tools for drawing and editing on the stage are.
The Timeline – This is where you make things happen to the objects on the stage. It is made up of frames, of which there are two types. KeyFrames are where significant events occur, where as nothing tends to happen in a normal frame. (Frames turn grey when the have something in.) It also uses layers which allow more than one thing to happen at once.
Panels – These are where advanced options and effects are performed.
Properties Panel – This is where all the properties of objects can be changed. For example, if text is selected then the font, colour and size can be changed here. This is where most basic options and effects are performed.

2. Using the Tools
Selection Tool – Used to select objects on the stage.
Lasso Tool – Cuts through fills in the shape as drawn.
Line Tool – Draws Straight Lines.
Text Tool – Inserts Text.
Shape Tools – Draw basic circles, ellipses, squares rectangles and other polygons.
Pencil Tool – Draws lines.
Paintbrush Tool – Creates Fills of any shape.
Transform Tools – Change the shape of an object, or the fill.
Fill Tools – Ink Bottle – Creates a line around any selected fill.
Paint Bucket – Creates a fill within any selected lines.
Eyedropper – Select any colour already displayed in the screen.
Eraser – Erases fills.
View Tools – Changes what is shown on the stage (Zoom Tool and Hand Tool)
Colour Tools – Change the colour of fills, lines and new objects.
Additional Options – Gives extra ways to customize how tools work.
Experiment with these tools and see how it works...
