Dutch researchers have shown that antidepressants, such as Prozac, can irritate ulcers.
An analysis of 64,000 patients popping selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), showed that the pills may double a person’s risk of stomach bleeding. SSRIs make the feel-good hormone, Serotonin, more available in the brain instead of the bloodstream, where it promotes clotting.
If you suffer from ulcers, talk to your doctor about an antidepressant with a lesser effect on serotonin reuptake.
