Today’s working woman is on the frontline of life everyday. Whether she is an employee or entrepreneur, mother or wife, girlfriend or daughter, the day’s ‘to do’ list is never done.
In such a scenario, finding a few moments for oneself proves to be quite a daunting task. With places to go, people to see, presentations to make, getting dolled up sometimes becomes more of a hassle than it’s worth… or so it seems.

When you add up all the minutes it takes to select an outfit, accessorize with the right jewellery, dry and style your hair, apply makeup and dash out the door, before you know it, you’re running late again. The problem is: You want to look great but you don’t want to spend much time getting ready. Well, with just a few spare moments and some wee bit of planning, you can get your day off to a beautiful start. Here’s how:

BEAUTY FOR YOUR BODY
Get your beauty sleep:
When we skip sleep, it shows on the outside – dark circles, puffy eyes and skin flare-ups all being unwelcome signs of a restless night. Give your body the opportunity to recuperate and rejuvenate. So first things first, don’t compromise on your beauty sleep; get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep everyday. That’s a wonderful beauty booster!

Detoxify:
Start your day with a detoxifying drink. Boil some water and add the juice of half a lemon, and drink while hot/lukwarm, not boiling! This hot drink flushes out some of the impurities from your system.

Exercise:
Work out for a few minutes or practice deep breathing everyday — and as often as you can. Even the worst of skeptics are finally beginning to believe in it now. It helps you in more ways than you can tell. You can also do some stretching while still in bed.

BEAUTY FOR YOUR PERSONA
Prioritize:
Pick and choose which elements of your appearance are most important to you. Once you’ve prioritized, you can really achieve the look you want in less time. For example, let’s say you care about clothes, hair, makeup, and jewellery, in that order.

Choose:
Now, how can you make the most of your time without leaving out a key element? Well, for starters, select your outfit the night before, even if it means taking it out at 11 p.m. And remember, drab colours do nothing to boost your mood. Wear cheerful colours.

Visualize:
Next, you want your hair to look nice, so try to have an idea of a style – up or down – before you get out of the shower. Make it your goal to know exactly how you want to do your hair once you dry it.

Finish:
You can add some blush to your cheeks and shine on your lips — if makeup helps you feel better. Finally, splash on some body spray or perfume and get ready to head out the door.

BEAUTY ON THE GO
Have a heart-to-heart:
Call up a close pal, or someone who can put a smile on your face, on your way to work. Even a five-minute chat, while in the cab or train, can perk you up, and make you feel good.

Drink lots of water:
That’s the best way to flush the toxins out of your system. Water can clean out your system and leave you hydrated, fresh and glowing.

Keep smiling:
It adds to your face value. When you flash a smile, do so with confidence.

BEAUTY FOR YOUR SPIRIT
Be at peace with yourself:
What counts for true beauty is what you are inside, the peace and serenity that you hold inside your heart. It makes us warm, it makes our skin glow, and it makes us smile. More importantly, it makes us look younger.

Be cheerful: Nobody’s life is perfect, and you may have good reason to feel low occasionally. But count your blessings and think of the brighter side of life. Your attitude will show on your face — and make a world of a difference to how you look. Don’t let depressing thoughts take over. There’s nothing more impressive than people bearing their sorrows or illness cheerfully and bravely.

Get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep everyday. That’s a wonderful beauty booster!

Here are some fast, last minute beauty tips:

Carry compact powder at all times. If you don’t have time for makeup, you’ll be happy to at least dust some powder on your cheeks and forehead.

Keep a lipgloss or chap stick handy at all times. Even without a colour lipstick, lipgloss can make you feel pretty and sexy!

Invest in some hair accessories, especially claw clips, hairpins etc. Even if you don’t have the time to fashion a new look, twist your hair back and pin it to your head for a sweeping look. Some hair clips will allow you to pile all of your hair on top of your head effortlessly. This comes in very handy when you don’t have time to dry your hair completely.

Make your manicure last longer by applying clear polish ever so often on top of your nail paint. It prevents the nail polish from cracking and chipping.

Keep a body spray/ perfume handy at work.
