Close-on-the-heels of the Rs 777 handsets, Reliance Communications (RCom) has announced the launch of a range of color mobile phones for just Rs 1,222.

The company says that the new range, which is called 'Classic Color', is the cheapest in the industry as compared to other handsets, and will be available under CDMA technology, which means a consumer will not be able to use them with any other number except for RCom.

Speaking on the occasion, S P Shukla, President of Personal Business, RCom, said, "Classic monochrome handsets brought many first time users of mobility into our fold, and now with our feature rich 'Classic Color' range, we hope to attract new users as well as existing users of other monochrome cellular phones."

The 'Classic Color' range of handsets have a unique 'SMS on Call reject feature' that automatically sends the caller an SMS (user definable) telling him/her that the callee is unable to take the call.

Under the 'Classic Colour' range, RCom has launched three models, including Classic 631, Classic 632, and Classic 231, priced at Rs 1,222; Rs 1,234; and Rs 1,299 respectively.

Meanwhile, the 'Classic' range now offers the added convenience of SIM cards that allow subscribers to change over from one model to another. However, subscribers cannot shift to another CDMA operator.
