It's 14th of August 2007!On this auspicious occasion Sikandar and I would like to congratulate each and every Pakistani out there. We would also like to share our feelings with u guys. This is a joint effort by Sikandar and me..Hope you guys will like it.

    Pakistan is Independent

On this auspicious Day, I heartily congratulate all my brothers & sisters of Pakistan. This day makes us feel that we are independent, sovereign and strong enough to move ahead on our own. Our great country is getting younger at 60 – don’t you all think so? I would like to have an overview of Pakistan’s progress, development and, of course, the hindrances and challenges before us.

    1.When we got Independence

Our independence was not gifted to us. It was the result of the utmost efforts and struggle of our leaders under the unquestionable leadership of our Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Through incomparable vision and aspiration, he could dream a country like ours would go a long way to establish itself as a major force in the world scenario and the intelligence and intellectual properties, it possesses will make it a country to reckon with.

And we pay our homage to our beloved Quaid-e-Azam, the founder of this great Nation. He not only worked for it but reposed his faith and trust on our abilities.

    2.Where from we started

We started from the scratch, with empty hands everywhere. The curse of partition had its catastrophic effect all over. Most of the people were starving in Refuge Camps. The biggest challenge was to provide them shelters, food and cloth with the paltry infrastructure that we had. There was nothing called Industrialization or Industry. We were totally dependent on external support and a few of domestic products like Jute, Rice etc. But our leadership did not succumb to these inadequacies. They handled it and handled it with courage and people of Pakistan stood up to these challenges.

    3.Small country & big wars

If we go through the history of the World, we would never find that a country with such a small geographicalcal size would have faced such big wards and still survived with its existence with raised head and with self-respect. It had four wars – in 1947, in 1965, in 1971 and in 2000. However, its economy sustained the huge expenditure and still moving ahead. Is it not enough to suggest that our great country has strong foundation?

4.Industrial Growth vis-Ã*-vis per Capita Income

Our present Industrial Growth is recorded at around 7% and per capita income has risen to around Rs.400/-. In 1947, our Industrial base was at the lowest ebb. However, the other component of the Industrial Growth – that is agricultural sector was still alive. From there, the growth is quite impressive at 7%. Per Capita Income has also increased considerably though it needs to improve even further. Industries are the backbone for the prosperity of any country and the agricultural sector provides the blood line. So, it is imperative that these sectors are properly handled so as to derive maximum benefits out of them.

5.Education to all and female advancement

There has been immense awareness towards Education.

It is said that females are equally important for the all round growth of a country for they constitute equal proportion towards responsibility and duties of building a nation. So, it is necessary to educate them so that they go shoulder to shoulder with the males. It is heartening to see that females have come out of the house, keeping their traditional rulings in tact, and contributing significantly in the field of culture, science and technology. It is now needed to turn this change into a permanent aspect and more impetus is to be given in this area.

    6.Political Scenario

If one area which has led Pakistan to drag behind from its required and expected development and growth, that is the turbulent political situation. Right from the independence and after the sad demise of Quaid-e-Azam, there was dearth of able leadership to take Pakistan to new horizon.

Internal disturbances and squabbles have taken its toll. Interference of Army also was a hurdle to run the country democratically. But even the democratically elected leaders like Z.A. Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were not proved to be able leaders and the country was mostly run by the Army Chiefs Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-Ul- Haq and now Parvez Musharraf.

    7.Pakistan – A Nuclear Power

Pakistan acquired Nuclear Capability in the year 1998. Is it not amazing and exciting that a country with so much of negativity and restrictions, have come up with such a capability. . Today, Pakistan is in a situation to combat any eventuality which might tend to disturb its sovereignty. We are proud of our great country.

    8.Challenges ahead – current scenario

MashAllah Pakistan is country with rich cultural heritage. And there has never been dearth of talent, intellectuals and brilliant people in Pakistan. However, the current scenario in our great country is quite disturbing. Fundamentalism is at its peak, which has slowed down the process of economic development. Terrorism has hit the general peace and spread a sense of insecurity amongst the common people. Now it is for the youth to sit back, pull their socks and face these adversities. It is essential to curb the spate of violence which is at times threatening the very existence of law and order. Political instability will have to be removed by electing a democratically elected Government through the vote of general people and the corrupt leaders have to be discarded.

And we youth, and only youth no one else, can do it.

So, let us all join hands and pledge on this auspicious day –

That we will build a Strong, Peaceful, Economically strong and Developed Pakistan.

PAKISTAN – WE LOVE THIS GREAT NAME AND WILL SACRIFICE EVERYTHING FOR IT.
