Tarun Tahiliani - Fashion For A Cause

With the fashion weeks coming to an end, India's designers are now headed the do-good way. Treading this cyclical trend, our top of the league designer Tarun Tahiliani held a fund-raiser in association with Lakme and the Indian Cancer Society. The show titled Sirens from Heaven was held as a cause against cancer and collections from the show would go to those who can't afford a treatment.

The Sirens from Heaven collection boasted a range of clothing for the modern Indian woman. Tahiliani showcased Indian and western outfits that were brought under the hammer for a select guest list.

A very able and vibrant Sita Raina auctioned the outfits that ranged from dull beiges to bright reds. Dresses and sarees that were anything but ordinary and meant for the woman of substance drew thunderous applause from the crowds.

    Coy and Confident
Indrani Dasgupta enthralled the audience as she walked down the ramp in this ruby-tinged outfit. The embroidery is minimal but looks stunning on the stylish bride. The jewellery is chunky but minimal and perfectly compliments the serenity of this Tahiliani outfit.

    A Tall Story
If the saree is six meters of oomph, Krishna Somani demonstrates it amply so. The thread work on beige adds elegance to this demure saree . But the ring and armbands in single gravels and the belt in black stones come together to add vigour unlimited to the attire. The choli is also tied at the back with coloured stones that add plenty of oomph to the outfit.

    Look Who's Walking
A long dress without any add-ons is the look everyone wants for the winters. This Tahiliani creation has immaculate crimps and folds that give the dress its X factor. The neckline is interesting and Sapna Kumar's bare neck adds its own style-quotient to the outfit. The belt and the tights add an underplayed sense of style.

    Silver Wear
A little more experimental, this saree with thread work in silver is good for a wedding party or even a formal cocktail. Sonalika Sahay looks gorgeous in the creation with a waist belt in silver to add a little bit of glamour. The simply cut choli (blouse) is stunning as it sparkles only slightly and lets the saree stand out.

    Halter Poise
It's a gorgeous creation in white and Nina Manuel looks beautiful in this Tahiliani handiwork. The pallu is strikingly different in furry stripes that drape beautifully over body. The halter blouse is the style factor here with its tassels, laces and crisscross look. Worn without any jewellery, this creation brings out an attractive virginal splendour.

    Black is Back
An ultra-stylish ensemble in black velvet and a beige strapless top signifies the attitude of the modern siren. Krishna Somani walked the ramp in this trendy outfit with a stole casually thrown on the shoulder that gives it a neatly grunge look. Finally, it is the anklet in chunks of gold that grabs all attention!

    Floral Glory
Floral prints, a stylish belt and churidaar bottoms make this well-flowing dress just right for the modern woman. If you are a lady looking for comfort as well as glamour, this one's for you. It is a simply cut outfit with a broad belt and bell sleeves to create the drama. Model Montu Tomar walks the ramp in this creation made to fit a woman who is moody and lives in a world of her own. Bell sleeves in stripes make this outfit ultra feminine.
