Lasagna


1 kilo ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup water
1 can tomato paste
1 can tomato sauce
1 tsp. fresh oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp.pepper
1 kilo cottage cheese or
1 (15 oz.) carton ricotta cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 egg beaten
2 tbsps. parsley flakes
1/2 kilo lasagna noodles, cooked
1/2 kilo Mozzarella cheese, shredded
additional Parmesan cheese, grated.



1. Put the ground beef and garlic in a casserole or deep sauce pan. Cover and cook until the beef is no longer pink. Stir halfway through the cooking. Drain and set aside.

2. Blend in water the tomato paste, oregano, salt, sugar, basil and pepper. Cook covered for 6 to 8 minutes or until boiling. Set aside.

3.Blend the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, egg and parsley flakes in a bolw; set aside.

4. Layer the lasagna noodles on the bottom of a baking dish. Cover noodles with half of the cheese mixture, mozzarella, cheese and half of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers, ensuring that the last layer is that of the lasagna noodles.

5. Bake in the oven for at least an hour. When cooked, sprinkle generously with parmesan cheese and garnish with parsley.
