Think flirty chiffon frocks, think soft, sumptuous dresses, think chill factor fabulous. Think Armani, Calvin Klein, Kookai, Jones of New York, Gap, Anne Klein and Guess. Yes, now, all these international labels are available locally at Identity – a fashion store that houses branded stuff. Women who want to inject a bit of excitement into their wardrobe can now update it with the latest offerings from the outlet. But men don't need to feel despair as there is plenty of accessories for them to choose from.

In a recently held fashion show of Identity at Sheraton, models walked the ramp in different designer labels. Sparkly tops, smart trousers and shimmering dresses were key pieces at the show. The ensembles definitely had an urban twist. From high glamour to boho chic there was something to suit every need and budget – although be prepared to burn the plastic or make a big dent in your wllet. The dresses were simple and sexy – with just a hint of demure – accessorised with key jewellery pieces. And the best part was that the collection was wearable.

One could spot nearly all the top of the line models including Iraj, Tooba, Rubab, Xalay Sarhadi, Nadia Hussain, Sadaf Pervaiz, Usman, Fahad, Azam and Zaib – adorned in different styles and colours.

Summer's classic shade is back – and in a fabulously feminine guise. Yes, we are talking about white. There was this whole segment dedicated to white from squeaky silk and vintage ivory to box–fresh cotton. Beautiful and covetable Iraj and Nadia carried white with grace. Since the emphasis was on summer one could also see summer's vivid and vibrant colours. Tooba in flattering red looked ravishing. Red is not only flattering to every skin tone and colour but can easily be accessorised for a signature look whereas green is the perfect shade to whisk your wardrobe into summer. Sadaf in green sleeveless top teamed with floral trousers did the same. The highlight of the show was charming and elegant evenings gowns. Attired in classic black shimmering dress, Xalay oozed glamour and style whereas Iraj in black layered costume personified elegance. Accessories were minimum and the few embellished accessories included trendy belts, sequinned scarfs and beautiful long beaded necklaces. Hair and make–up done by Depilex gelled well with the over all look.

Male models flaunted in smart casual shirts and trousers teamed with stylish jackets. They also sported striped shirts and formal trousers for evenings.

The show, choreographed by Imran Kureishi, was really enjoyed by the audiences, followed by a sumptuous dinner. After that the guests were entertained by Shehzad Roy's rendition of his popular numbers like 'Teera Mukhra Hasein', 'Ishq Tera' etc. Shehzad also sang 'Words' by Bee Gees, which was really appreciated by the audiences.

Instep also had a chance to speak to Yasmin Ikram, the owner of Identity. She was very excited over the response she got from the audience after the show. "The basic idea behind it was to make people aware of the various international labels. Although the fashion conscious lot know about the latest trends and are familiar with brand names but only of a few, whereas there are so many international brands out there. In my store I have kept famous European and American labels like Babe, DKNY, Roc, Brazil etc in a bid to make them more popular among our desi lot."

Yasmin claimed that hers is the first out let in Karachi where all the labels are available under one roof. "I cater to both men and women – from casual to formal, there is something for every one."

Yasmin, an avid trallever, keeps a close eye on latest trends and fashion. Talking about latest trends in summer, she said, "Summer looks are all about full, unstructured shapes. The look is light and feminine with brilliant flashes of colour. This season's softly, draped, feminine clothes give flounces, layers and frills a new sex appeal. Dresses are teamed with oodles of accessories, from beads and bangles to charm bracelets. Belts have made a comeback which are a real style statement. And if you invest in one pair of shoes this season, make sure it's got a wedge heel."
    Dream, I do.
