Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is taking the initiative to raise money for the relief and rehabilitation of the victims of the South Asia quake that has claimed many lives in Pakistan and northern India.
Sanju seems to be following the example set by his late illustrious father Sunil Dutt , an actor, politician and a philanthropic figure who died in May this year.
Reports say Sanju is planning to organize a concert to raise money for the earthquake victims in both countries. The concert would feature Indian and Pakistani movie stars, singers and other artists.
Speaking to a news channel, Dutt said he was “pained” by the loss of lives and suffering of people in Pakistan and north India.
Dutt told the channel: “They (Pakistani stars) had come to India to help us raise funds for the tsunami relief, and now we need to do something for the earthquake victims.”
Sanju had organized a concert for Tsunami relief in February this year.
He is already believed to have talked with Pakistani actress Meera about the possible confluence of talents from Indian and Pakistani film industry to raise money for the thousands who have lost their family members and homes in Pakistani and Indian side of Kashmir.
Dutt said while the talks of the concert are underway, he would request Indian public to donate money for the quake victims.
Meanwhile, relief material from India has already started moving into Pakistan. Tents, blankets and raw food items have been sent.
And now, filmstars are coming forward to help in whatever way they can. And it is heartening to see this initiative coming from Sanjay Dutt. Keep it up man!
