Not every woman is blessed with a 5’11’’ height, with long legs and a body to match. For some of us who have to choose heels not just to make a fashion statement but to breathe easily in a crowd, height can be a particularly sensitive issue. But, you can add centimeters vertically, not just by opting for the longest possible stilettos, but by dressing right to create the “Illusion of height.” Here is how:

Do not cut your body into parts by wearing fabrics of different colours (avoid contrast in top and bottom). Instead, create a monochromatic effect. This makes you look slimmer and taller.

Wearing long straight skirts will add to your height. Avoid the long flared ones.

Avoid wide belts with your outfits as they add bulk to your appearance without adding height.

If you are wearing trousers, go for the straight fits.

Wear vertical line patterns, ideally on the lower half of your body (skirts/trousers). Be careful not to over do the stripes.

If you have a short neck then high-collared clothes are an absolute no-no.

If you like wearing necklaces, go for the long ones (touching your navel). Short chokers look very unflattering with short necks.

Remember: It is all about wearing the correct items of clothing… So, dress right…walk tall… and remember that, “Good things come in small packages.”
