Nokia warned consumers that 46 million batteries used in its mobile phones could overheat and offered to replace them for free.

Those of you with mobile phones containing batteries that have been recalled by Nokia need no longer wait for replacements. All you need to do is walk to the nearest Nokia Care, and you will be given a replacement on the spot.

Earlier this week, Nokia recalled around 46 million batteries manufactured by Japan-based Matsushita due to potential over heating followed by a short circuit.

The BL-5C batteries manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006 are the ones recalled, and there have been approximately 100 incidents of overheating reported globally. These incidents occurred while charging the batteries
